Are you looking to break into a fast growing industry? Then the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program in Continuing Education at ACC may be the perfect fit for you. Austin is a rapidly growing city which means HVAC companies are struggling to meet the demand. There has never been a better time than now to pursue a career as an HVAC technician. There are many jobs in the following industries: HVAC companies, property management, retirement living centers and hotel chains throughout our Central Texas region.
About the Program
The HVAC program in Continuing Education at ACC has been specially designed to deliver the skills you need in a short period of time so you can enter this high growth occupation quickly. This program is heavily hands-on and prides itself for its relationship with employers.
The HVAC CE Certificate consist of four (4) required course sections:
  1. CNBT-1001 Introduction to the Construction Industry
  2. HART-1001 Basic Electricity for HVAC
  3. HART-1007 Refrigeration Principles (HART-1001 Prerequisite)
In CNBT-1001, students will study topics including OSHA 10 training requirements, construction math, hand and power tools, materials handling and construction drawings. HART-1001 covers principles of electricity as required by HVAC: testing equipment, electrical circuits, and component theory and operation. HART-1007 covers refrigeration cycle, heat transfer theory, temperature/pressure relationship, refrigerant handling, refrigeration components, and safety. HART-1056 is a certification training class focusing on recovery, recycle, and reclaim of HVAC refrigerant. During this last class students will take the EPA Universal Examination.
